Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has criticised the lack of transparency surrounding the suspension of Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo by President John Dramani Mahama.

Chief Justice Torkornoo was suspended on Tuesday, April 22, after a prima facie case was established against her based on petitions filed by private citizen, Daniel Ofori, senior police officer, Ayamga Akolgo, and civic group, Shining Stars of Ghana.

A five-member committee has been set up to investigate the matter.

Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV, Baffour Awuah argued that the President's decision to suspend the Chief Justice amounted to adjudication and should have been guided by a clear legal framework.  "The president, in deciding to suspend, is adjudicating.
