The Director of Legal Affairs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, has accused the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) of engaging in selective amnesia in response to the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
This follows a statement issued by the GBA on April 26, in which it described the suspension as unconstitutional and lacking legal basis.
The association argued that President John Dramani Mahama's decision-purportedly taken under Article 146(10) of the Constitution-was flawed due to the absence of a Constitutional or Statutory Instrument regulating the exercise of presidential discretion, as mandated by Article 296.
The GBA further called on the President to revoke the suspension.
