The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it is working expeditiously to ensure a smooth transition to the new chip-embedded passport system, following the official switch from biometric passports on April 28, 2025.
According to the Ministry, approximately 30,000 applications remain in the old system, with 7,900 paid applicants having incomplete applications.
In a press release dated April 30, 2025, the Ministry assured affected applicants that they will not be required to pay again to complete their pending applications. "The Ministry notes that about 30,000 applications remain in the old system, out of which 7,900 paid applicants have incomplete applications.
Applicants with incomplete applications are assured that they will not be charged again to complete the pending applications.
