Former Member of Parliament and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has declared his intent to contest the party's flagbearership again if nominations reopen  prior to the 2028 general elections, despite recent disturbances and what he describes as targeted intimidation.   The outspoken politician made this known in the aftermath of a violent incident in Kumasi, where a young supporter of his was stabbed.

The incident, which involved alleged thugs attempting to retrieve a cash gift the supporter had received, has led Agyapong to withdraw from the party's ongoing 'Thank You Tour,' citing security concerns.""I am taking this opportunity to inform all that I am going to contest; nobody can stop me from doing that.

They should be ready.

We were part of those who built the party and sacrificed for it," he said.
