Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has withdrawn from the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) ongoing "Thank You" tour, citing security threats to his team and supporters.

The decision follows a violent incident at a campaign event held at the Pentecost Church in Bantama, Kumasi, where a student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), affiliated with Unity Hall, was stabbed during a confrontation.

The student, a member of Unity Hall's Jama group, had been hired by Agyapong's team to perform at the event.

According to the former MP's team, a wealthy friend who attended the gathering donated money to the Jama group.
