Scores of newly posted graduate teachers from the Ashanti Region have gathered at the Ghana Education Service Headquarters in Accra to protest over their unpaid eight-month salary.
No official has come out to attend to them after their arrival at about 7 am.
Meanwhile, leaders of the affected teachers have been called into a closed-door meeting. "GES organised a mental health programme for us, saying that teachers are suffering from stress and depression, but it appears they are the cause of it.
If I don't teach for eight months, you will fire me, so why haven't you paid me for eight months?" Extraterrestrial Kusi, an affected teacher, told Channel One News. "For the past eight years, nothing has been said to us by our employers, so we do not know what is happening to us.
