A leading legal practitioner, Thaddeus Sory, has taken a swipe at the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) over its recent call for the Acting Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, to withdraw a directive on the assignment and scheduling of newly filed cases and applications.
In a statement dated April 26, the GBA described the directive as "uncertain" and potentially disruptive to the judicial process.
The Association emphasised the need for transparency, predictability, and efficiency in court operations, urging the Judiciary to adopt a tech-based approach to case assignments to minimise human interference and promote fairness.
However, in a legal opinion shared on Facebook, Sory described the GBA's position as "legally flawed and disrespectful," stating that the Bar's demand reflects a concerning contradiction in its reasoning.
