The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee for Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, Mr Roland Atanga Ayoo, secured 100 per cent endorsement from the assembly members during his confirmation.Organised by the Municipal Assembly and conducted by the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), the nominee polled all 38 votes, representing 100 per cent of the total valid votes cast.In his acceptance speech, Mr Ayoo expressed gratitude to the Assembly Members; comprising 26 elected and 12 Government appointees for reposing confidence in him.He said the 100 per cent en­dorsement was an attestation to the fact that the people of Bolga­tanga were united by consensus to 'push forward' the development of the Municipality.According to him, he was totally aligned with President John Dramani Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government's vision to resuscitate Ghana's struggling economy and reset it to the path of growth and prosperity."And I want to assure you that, the Bolgatanga Municipality will get its fair share of the resetting agenda of the government under my stewardship as MCE," the new­ly-confirmed MCE promised.He also pledged to ensure a bal­anced development in all areas of national life, adding he would spare no efforts to ensure the Municipal­ity attained a Metropolitan status in future.Mr Ayoo also indicated that he was fully aware of the mon­strous challenges confronting the municipality, especially in the areas of infrastructure, multidimensional poverty, youth unemployment, poor sanitation, and vowed to aggressively tackle them head-on as he assumed office as MCE."I'm fortified in my mind that the development issues in the Mu­nicipality would be tackled aggres­sively under my tenure", Mr Ayoo assured to a defeaning applause from a mammoth crowd, notably party supporters and sympathisers.As an individual, who had an overriding passion to turn round the fortunes of the people in the area, he noted his commitment to optimising the human poten­tial and attaining massive societal transformation was unrelenting. FROM FRANCIS DABRE DABANG, BOLGATANGA
