Some community members in the Yendi constituency of the Northern Region have expressed their remorse for failing to vote to retain Dr Fa­rouk Aliu Mahama to parliament during the 2024 general election.According to members of the communities, their decision not to vote for the MP was already beginning to affect their development, stressing that, "We are sorry and ask for his forgiveness."This revelation came to light when the former MP visited the communities as part of his thank you tour of the constituency.His tour, which saw him visit more than 52 communities in the constituency, took him to Zugu Township; Banchiya No1; Banchiya no Gbungbaliga town; Yashigu, Yemahigu; Choo; Kpachi­yili; konkonba Area; Adiboo Town; Konkonba Area; Nakpachei Township and Kpalibiloni.He also visited Kuni township, Jemboni, Baaduli; Sakpe; kogban­do; Boani; Nassah, Gnani Tindang; Gnani Palace; Maligu Naa konkon­ba Palace; Zang; zangba; Kpaligig­bin; Kpanjamba Town; Gungun­zugu; Waabung; Temorikenyil; Sakpaba; Yensala; Zakoli.The rest of the communities were, Pion; Talani; Pion Yapala; Nkwata; Sakpegu; Gbarimani; Tusaani Township; Kpatia; Nalogu Malzeri Township and Kulpaga.At Talani, the chief of the area, Mbor Issah Lejigmar, asked for the forgiveness from the former MP, explaining that they were shocked by the results of the 2024 elec­tions.He, however, urged the former MP to remain calm and be patient­ly for 2028 as they would reward him graciously.On his part, Ngani Tidana, Shei Alhassan Jakum, recounted devel­opment the former MP undertook in the constituency."Your thank you tour is a good one for us to open our mind and tell you where the short falls is and to correct them in our next elections," he said.The Tindana stated that they were aware of his capabilities and they would forever remain calm as they wait patiently for 2028.The Yendi Constituency Chair­man, Alhaji Baba Gazali, in his address indicated that lies would not last for long and now that they know the truth they must uphold it and never allow anyone to deceive them again.He told them to be watchdogs and be ready to expose any politi­cian who come to lie or throw dust into their eyes.The chairman also said they would continue to visit them in order to know their problems and find ways of solving them. FROM YAHAYA NUHU NA­DAA, YENDI
