A Fellow in Public Law and Justice at CDD-Ghana, Professor Kwaku Asare, popularly known as Kwaku Azar, has criticised the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) for what he calls a "prejudicial" and legally unfounded declaration regarding the suspension of Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo.

In a Facebook post, Kwaku Azar described the GBA's resolution calling for the revocation of the suspension as lacking legal merit and warned that the Association risked politicising the judiciary it seeks to protect. "The Chief Justice's suspension remains constitutional.

The GBA's call for revocation lacks legal merit and risks politicizing the judiciary itself," he stated.

His comments come in response to a resolution passed at the GBA's 2025 mid-year conference in Accra, where members unanimously called on President John Mahama to reverse what they deemed an "unconstitutional suspension" of the Chief Justice.
