President has nominated 33 individuals to serve as Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The nominations were announced in a statement issued on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, by the Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Ahmed Ibrahim.
According to the statement, the nominations are in line with constitutional and legal provisions guiding local governance. "The President, in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended, has nominated the attached list of persons for appointment to the office of District Chief Executive, pending approval by their respective District Assemblies," it stated.
The nominations form part of President Mahama's broader efforts to strengthen local governance and accelerate development at the grassroots level.
