The John Mahama administration is taking bold steps to resolve the £39 million student loan debt abandoned by the previous government, a debt widely described as a reckless legacy that has left countless Ghanaian students abroad stranded, humiliated, and uncertain about their futures.
As part of President 's unwavering commitment to restoring hope and dignity to Ghanaian students studying abroad, the Registrar of the Scholarship Secretariat, Alex Kwaku Asafo Adjei, has visited Brunel University in London in a bid to find practical solutions to the outstanding student loan debts.
In high-level discussions with the university's management, led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Jonathan Wastling, both parties agreed to audit and validate every student record and financial claim to ensure absolute transparency and value for money.
Equally important, they agreed to initiate a structured payment plan aimed at preventing further disruption to the academic journeys of Ghanaian students abroad.
