The New Patriotic Party (NPP) and four other opposition parties say they are fully prepared to stage a protest on May 5 against the suspension of Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkonoo by President John Mahama.

Describing the move as a direct attack on the independence of the judiciary, the parties have vowed to resist what they call growing political interference in the justice system.

Speaking to Citi News at the Accra Regional Police Headquarters, NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye confirmed that all necessary arrangements with the police have been concluded. "We have already notified the police, and they have invited us for some deliberations.

It was all peaceful and we agreed on the roadmap.
