A member of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Communication Team, Eric Twum, has defended Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, stating that the former Vice President is not shirking responsibility but rather acknowledging the party's collective failures during his ongoing Thank You Tour.

This follows growing public criticism directed at Dr Bawumia, the NPP's 2024 Presidential Candidate, over remarks made on the tour.

He attributed the party's electoral defeat to several issues, including the arrogance of power, high cost of living, failure to reshuffle appointees, the controversial Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), and the IMF-mandated "haircut" policy during the debt restructuring programme.

Dr Bawumia noted that these challenges left many Ghanaians burdened under intense economic pressure-a message that has sparked debate over whether he is distancing himself from the very administration he was a central part of.
