In accordance with Asante custom, the Mampong Traditional Council and the Bretuo Dynasty have officially informed the Asantehene of the passing of the Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
The solemn announcement, led by Mamponghemaa Nana Agyakoma Difie II, took place at the Manhyia Palace and marks the end of an era for one of Ghana's most revered traditional leaders.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, who served as Vice President of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, was the occupant of the prestigious Silver Stool-placing him second in the hierarchy of the Asante Kingdom, often acting on behalf of the Asantehene in important traditional matters.
Born on December 31, 1939, Daasebre Osei Bonsu passed away at the age of 86, after 26 years of dedicated reign.
