The political parties that announced a demonstration over the ongoing process concerning petitions for the removal of suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo have officially notified the Ghana Police Service of their plans.
The political parties, namely, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), the National Democratic Party (NDP), and the People's National Party (PNP), informed the police that the demonstration will take place on Monday, May 5, 2025.
They indicated that the protest against the removal of the Chief Justice will start at 5:00 a.m.
from the Supreme Court and proceed to the Jubilee House, where a petition will be presented to the president. "Pursuant to the provisions of the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491), the undersigned political parties hereby give formal notice of our intent to hold a peaceful public demonstration in Accra on Monday, 5th May 2025. "We are organising this public demonstration to express our collective protest against the politically motivated removal of the Chief Justice of the Republic.
