A member of the Communication Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and presidential staffer, Beatrice Annan, has stated emphatically that the presidency did not leak copies of the petitions concerning the chief justice's removal.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGh, she said: "Although I am at the Presidency, I haven't seen a copy of the petition.
I haven't even cited any of the five petitions we are dealing with at the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee." She insisted that the petition was treated as highly confidential. "If they say state secret, the petition was treated as if it was a state secret.
Although the petition was received long ago, some as far back as February and March, none of us even saw the contents." According to Beatrice, the timing of the leak suggests it could not have originated from the Presidency. "It is only curious that copies of the petitions, whether true or false, started flying around after the Chief Justice was given her copies.
