A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has sentenced Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi, to death by hanging. Justice Nwosu-Iheme, who presided over the case on Monday, ruled that the prosecution had successfully proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Nwachukwu was found guilty of culpable homicide in connection with the death of his wife on April 8, 2022.The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation had arraigned Nwachukwu on June 3, 2022, on a 23-count charge that included culpable homicide, spousal battery, criminal intimidation, cruelty to children, and other related offenses.
During the trial, the prosecution called 17 witnesses, among them two of the couple's children, who testified as the fourth and fifth witnesses (PW4 and PW5).
In addition to witness testimonies, the prosecution also presented 25 documents as evidence.
