The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has confirmed that 50,458 teachers who passed the 2024 aptitude test for promotion have officially been placed on their correct grades as of April 2025.
In a statement signed by GNAT's General Secretary, Thomas Musah, the union revealed that the promotion follows successful discussions with the Ghana Education Service (GES) during a meeting held on April 25, 2025. "We can confirm that out of the 54,227 teachers who were successful in the 2024 aptitude test for promotion, 50,458 have been placed on their correct grades in April 2025," the statement noted.
It added that the outstanding cases, along with a backlog from the 2023 batch, are expected to be resolved by May 2025.
GNAT also announced progress in the issue of payroll removals, stating that 1,417 out of 1,579 teachers who had been previously removed from the payroll have had their salaries reinstated, leaving only 162 cases outstanding.
