Fraud cases in Ghana's banking sector fell significantly in 2024, marking a 26% decrease compared to the previous year, according to the latest report from the Bank of Ghana.

The report shows a drop in reported fraud incidents from 969 cases in 2023 to 716 in 2024.

This decline has been largely credited to stronger internal control systems implemented by banks, which have helped curb various fraudulent activities.

Despite the overall improvement, the report noted a sharp rise in specific fraud types.
