Thomas Duanab Wuni Pearson, the immediate past District Chief Executive (DCE) for Talensi in the Upper East Region, has lamented the poor remuneration of DCEs in the country, especially those in rural areas.

He shockingly disclosed that he lived on a GH¢5,000 monthly salary, which could not sustain his immediate family, especially given that he had to occasionally part with some money as a politician.

The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Talensi Constituency did not mince words in stating that he became worse off as a DCE, given the meager salary and the growing demands from constituents and residents of the area.

Comparing his benefits as a staff of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) prior to his political appointment, he disclosed on Bolgatanga-based Dreamz FM that, "I became worse off by becoming a DCE.
