Following the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, questions have emerged about who steps in to assume her responsibilities at the helm of Ghana's judiciary.
As per the established hierarchy and tradition of the Supreme Court, the most senior justice on the bench typically assumes the role of Acting Chief Justice in the absence of the substantive holder of the office.
That responsibility now falls to Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, the most senior member of the Supreme Court.
Appointed on June 11, 2008 by former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie has served on the bench for over 15 years and is widely respected for his depth of legal experience and judicious temperament.
