The Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), , has stated that the accountability period for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is near.
According to Gyamfi, the government's revocation of Chairman Wontumi's Akonta Mining licence is a testament to President 's commitment to tackling illegal mining, also known as "galamsey." "The day of reckoning for Chairman Wontumi and his ilk has come. @JDMahama means business.

His comments follow the government's directive, through the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Armah-Kofi Buah, instructing the Minerals Commission to revoke the mining lease of Akonta Mining, a company owned by Chairman Wontumi, over alleged breaches.
