President , by virtue of his prerogative powers, has established a five-member committee to investigate petitions filed against Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, seeking her removal from office.
The establishment of the committee is in accordance with Article 146(6) of the constitution and was done in consultation with the Council of State, following the determination of a prima facie case against Chief Justice Torkornoo.
This was announced in an official communication from the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
The committee members boast a wealth of experience, with members drawn from various fields, including the Supreme Court, academia, and former positions such as Auditor-General.
