In a statement released on April 21, 2025, the diplomatic mission of the Holy See in Ghana relayed the unfortunate news to the civil authorities, the Episcopal Conference, the clergy, the religious, and all the faithful in the country. "It is with profound sorrow that the Apostolic Nunciature in Ghana announces to the civil authorities, the Episcopal Conference, the clergy, the religious, and all the faithful in Ghana, that His Holiness Pope Francis, peacefully passed away on Monday, 21 April 2025, at 7:35 am, on the liturgical feast of Easter Monday, at the Vatican," the statement said.

The statement also highlighted the exemplary leadership, spiritual depth, and remarkable contributions of the late Pope Francis to humanity; the diplomatic mission assured of timely updates on liturgical commemorations in Ghana.
