The National Chief Imam, Sheikh (Dr) Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has condemned the recent arson attack on a police station and killing of peacekeeping personnel in Bawku.
He also condemned, as disgusting impunity, the brazen shooting at the vehicle of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) by some irate youth in Bawku.
This, he adds, was an "assault on the authority of the state," a misbehaviour that is not entertained in civilised democratic societies, said a statement issued by Dr Mohammed Marzuq Abubakari Azindoo, Personal Assistant to the National Chief Imam.
The statement said that Sheikh Sharubutu appealed to the factions in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict to "silence the guns" and allow the restoration of normalcy to the area.
