Delegates of the Convention People's Party (CPP) will on September 4 go to the polls to elect a presidential candidate for the December 7 general election. The date was announced by the National Executive Council after leadership approved and cleared the candidature of two senior members of the party to contest. The immediate past chairperson of the party, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah, and a private legal practitioner, Frimpong Yaw Anokye have only seven days to convince delegates on why they should be given the chance to lead the party in the upcoming presidential elections. Leadership of the party has admitted that it is far behind time with its campaign activities, but hopeful of catching up as soon as it tackles the presidential primaries. The party's activities suffered delay due to a legal tussle between members and leadership. "NEC has taken a decision that no member of the party in our current state should take the party to court in any angle.
