Akonta Mining Limited has firmly denied recent accusations linking the company to illegal mining operations within the Tano Nimiri Forest Reserve in the Western Region of Ghana.
The company is pushing back against claims made by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who has called for the revocation of its mining license.
In a strong-worded statement, Akonta Mining distanced itself from any mining activities in the forest reserve, asserting that responsibility for such areas lies solely with the state. "We are not responsible for the activities in the Tano Nimiri Forest Reserve.
That responsibility lies solely with the Forestry Commission and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources," the company stated.
