The Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Kingdom, His Majesty Nayiri Naa Bohaga Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, has forcefully spoken out against the recent outbreak of violence in the Bawku Traditional Area, condemning the actions of certain youth groups and urging the government to take swift and decisive action.
Speaking to the media, the Nayiri expressed deep concern over the escalation of lawlessness, which he said has caused significant distress among the people of Mamprugu. "The unlawful acts perpetrated by certain Kusasi youth-including assaults, violence against state property, and threats to the lives of security personnel-have greatly alarmed and distressed the peace-loving people of Mamprugu," he stated.
The revered traditional leader lamented the growing threat to regional stability, particularly from extremist elements operating in areas surrounding Bawku. "National efforts to restore Bawku to its rightful status as a hub of commerce and harmony are further threatened by the destabilizing activities of terrorists operating within the Binduri, Pusiga, Garu, and Bawku West Districts.
Their actions jeopardize the stability of the entire Northern Corridor," he said.
