Former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, has urged political actors to refrain from interfering in judicial matters, particularly in relation to the ongoing petitions against Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
Speaking on Channel One's Newsroom on Thursday, April 17, Osei-Owusu stressed the need to uphold the rule of law and protect the judiciary's independence.
Quoting the Chief Justice, he recalled her statement that her decisions remain grounded in legal principles, regardless of her position. "The law won't change," he said, calling on politicians to respect the judiciary and avoid exerting undue influence.
Osei-Owusu also voiced doubts about the credibility of the petitions seeking the Chief Justice's removal.
