Ghanaian gospel group Alabaster Box has taken legal action against rapper Medikal (Samuel Adu Frimpong), accusing him of sampling their hit song "Akwaaba" without permission in his track "Welcome to Africa." The group initially raised the issue publicly on April 8, 2025, demanding the immediate removal of the song from all streaming platforms and a full report on any revenue generated from its distribution, performance, and marketing.

The group is seeking GH₵10 million in general damages for copyright infringement and an additional GH₵5 million in exemplary damages, citing deliberate misuse of their intellectual property and damage to their brand due to the association with content they deem vulgar.The legal document also requests that Medikal cover all related legal costs.
Alabaster Box insists that their rights were ignored despite multiple attempts to resolve the matter amicably, pushing them to pursue compensation through the courts.
