Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has emphasised the need for Ghana to prioritise entrepreneurship and leverage its strategic location to boost local industries.
In an interview with Channel One News on Tuesday, April 15, ahead of the Kwahu Business Forum-which aims to stimulate business growth-Debrah highlighted the untapped potential of Ghanaian businesses in supplying goods to neighbouring West African countries. "It's about time as a nation we take entrepreneurship seriously and move it," he stated, stressing that Ghana's proximity to countries like Burkina Faso and Niger presents a unique opportunity for local industries.
He explained that many West African nations import products such as sugar from Europe, but if Ghana establishes a sugar mill or dairy production plant, it could easily supply these markets at a lower shipping cost.
Debrah pointed to the Exim Bank as a potential supporter of Ghanaian businesses looking to expand into dairy production.
