Media personality and entertainment pundit Mc Yaa Yeboah has taken a firm stance on how some Ghanaian musicians view the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), formerly known as the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).   Speaking on UTV's United Showbiz over the weekend, she criticised artistes who downplay the importance of the scheme, stating that it reflects poorly on their seriousness as professionals in the industry."You are not serious as an artiste if you talk down on the Ghana Music Awards scheme," she said, adding that in other countries, award schemes are treated with high regard.

According to Mc Yaa Yeboah, international artistes often place great value on being associated with prestigious awards like the Grammys and the BET Awards.

Even a nomination, she said, is considered a major boost to an artiste's brand and is proudly highlighted in their portfolios and introductions. "It's only in Ghana that we don't take our award schemes seriously," she noted. "Elsewhere, being a Grammy-nominated or BET-nominated artiste is a big deal." She further stated that when Ghanaian musicians publicly disregard the TGMA, it gives her reason to reflect on their mindset and dedication. "I look at Ghanaian artistes who look down on TGMA twice or with some kind of reaction," she added.Read Also:How Can Ghana Police Stay Silent on This Issue? - Mc Yaa Yeboah Questions Lack of Action on Kofi Adomah Nwanwani's Case View this post on Instagram A post shared by πŸ†„πŸ†ƒπŸ†… πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ…°πŸ…½πŸ…° (@utvghana) Yaa Yeboah has previously voiced her disappointment in Ghanaian artistes who appear disinterested in the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), urging them to show more respect and appreciation for the prestigious scheme.
