Minister of Communications, Digital, Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has strongly rejected claims that he is using the anti-LGBTQI bill for political expediency.
Sam George, a lead proponent of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, has been vocal in his criticism of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for failing to assent to the bill during his tenure.
In an interview on The Point of View with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV, the Minister emphasized that his advocacy for the bill is driven by personal conviction rather than political calculations. "That would be unfair, my actions speak to the contrary.
If I'm right, I believe the president [John Dramani Mahama] had said that he believes this Bill should be handled by the state. "But based on my personal convictions, at my vetting, I indicated that because this was pushed by my personal beliefs, by my chiefs who were present at my vetting.
