The leadership of the (NDC) in Asante Mampong has formally extended an apology to the Mampong Traditional Council and the Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, in response to anti-Ashanti comments made by some members of the party's youth wing.
This gesture follows a 24-hour ultimatum issued by the Mamponghene, demanding a retraction of the offensive remarks, which were made during a campaign opposing the potential nomination of Esther Dwomoh, an Ashanti, by former President John Dramani Mahama for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in the area.
In response to the incident, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II strongly condemned the actions of the individuals involved, warning that appropriate measures would be taken against them for their derogatory remarks. "Advise those in the NDC who put up the despicable act.
They have until tomorrow afternoon… If not, we shall shake things up for them to know that we wield the power and the entire jurisdiction," Daasebre Osei Bonsu fumed.
