The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Hydrological Authority, Dr John Kissi says the Authority needs $5 billion to effectively address flooding across the country. He said the Authority received GHC92 million last year under the National Flood Control Programme which was not sufficient. Dr Kissi said this at a sitting of the Assurance Committee in Parliament in Accra on Wednesday. He stressed that the needed amount would help address the country's flooding issues. "In 2023 under the National Flood Control Programme, we received about GH92 million to undertake flood mitigation works across the country. "Our work that we've done looking at the flood waste challenges across the country we estimate that we need about $5 billion across the country to address comprehensively the flood waste challenges that we have. That is looking across every city and every town in every region of the country," he stated.   By: Kennedy Twumasi
