The Omanhene of the Mampong Traditional Council, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, has questioned the actions of some National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth in Mampong who have recently embarked on an open anti-Ashanti campaign.

Addressing some constituency leaders of the party at his palace on Sunday, April 13, 2025, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II questioned whether the youth protesting against the possible nomination of an Ashanti for the Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position were intoxicated or high on opioids.

He suggested that the infamous 'red' opioid may have fueled the actions of the youth. "Why are some people, whether they were drunk or high on those red or blue or whatever you call them, so mad that they felt the need to destroy what we all share as a people?

And you, the party leaders, feel scared to call them to order.
