Some aggrieved youth from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly have strongly opposed the rumored impending appointment of the 2024 (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Tema Central, Ebi Bright, as the next mayor, following widespread speculations.
According to the youth group, they are advocating for the appointment of an indigene - someone born and raised in Tema, who shares a strong connection with the local community - as the next mayor.
They contend that Ebi Bright is neither a nominee nor part of the consideration process and thus expressed their surprise at the rumors suggesting she had been recommended for the position of mayor. "This morning, we are here with a very heavy heart because the information we are hearing indicates that they are going to bring on board Ebi Bright as the mayor of Tema.
It's not going to happen," a member of the protesting youths said in a video captured by ChannelOne TV.
