Some youth from Tema have stormed the premises of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to press home their demand that President John Dramani Mahama appoint an indigene as the next Mayor of Tema.

The protestors made their stance clear amid the burning of car tyres and the rhythmic beating of drums, on Sunday, April 13.

Their appeal follows reports of behind-the-scenes efforts to appoint the 2024 parliamentary candidate for Tema Central, Ebi Bright, as the next Mayor, despite earlier indications that Patience Ankamah Addo was being considered for the role.

Speaking to the press on Sunday, April 13, Dora Sappor, a concerned youth from Tema, stated that any plans to appoint Ebi Bright as the Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly must be ruled out. "We are here with a heavy heart.
