Former Deputy Energy Minister and Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, Collins Adomako-Mensah, is calling for a more pragmatic and non-partisan approach to utility tariff adjustments in the country.

His remarks follow the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission's (PURC) recent announcement of increased electricity and water tariffs, which are set to take effect on May 3, 2025.

The adjustments, part of the PURC's quarterly review, are aimed at ensuring revenue stability for utility providers while attempting to minimise the impact on consumers.

According to the Commission, electricity tariffs will rise by an average of 14.75%, while water tariffs will go up by 4.02%.
