The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has expressed strong opposition to the recently announced increase in utility tariffs, set to take effect from May 3, 2025.

The revision comes as part of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission's (PURC) quarterly tariff review process for the first and second quarters of 2025.

The review aims to ensure revenue stability for utility service providers while minimizing the financial burden on consumers.

Under the new rates, electricity tariffs will rise by an average of 14.75%, while water tariffs will increase by 4.02%.
