Some irate supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asante Mampong Constituency of the Ashanti Region on Thursday stormed the party's constituency office, vandalised property and set items ablaze outside the premises.
The protest, according to the aggrieved youth, was triggered by reports that one Esther Dwomoh had been nominated for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position - a move they vehemently oppose.
They claimed the information reached them despite no official communication from the Presidency.
The group argued that three individuals - the party's 2024 parliamentary candidate, Yakubu Yakubu, Constituency Chairman, Mohammed Kamil, and one Imoro Iddrisu - had been shortlisted after a vetting process, and insisted that the nominee must be chosen from among them.
