The Commanding General of the United States Army, Southern European Task Force Africa, Major General Andrew Gainey, has urged military officers to cooperate and synchronize efforts to address the challenges of disinformation.
Delivering an address at the closing of the 13th African Land Forces Summit in Accra on Thursday, April 10, 2025, he admonished military leaders to use the summit as an opportunity to collaborate and build strong forces to combat disinformation, which poses a threat to security within African land forces and beyond.
He stated that the United States Army is fully committed to enabling the operational capacity of its partners in fighting the challenges of disinformation. "The complex challenges of disinformation require multinational and regional cooperation and synchronization.
They require the involvement of everyone here," he emphasised.
