The Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) will today, Thursday, April 10, 2025, embark on a demolition exercise targeting unauthorized structures erected on the Weija and Dansoman Ramsar sites.

The move follows a directive from President John Dramani Mahama during his recent tour of Ramsar sites and flood-prone communities in Accra.

During the visit, the President issued a stern warning against illegal developments on protected lands and waterways, emphasizing that such structures would be removed to safeguard the environment and public safety.

He reiterated the government's firm stance against illegal construction on wetlands, stressing that the protection of natural watercourses is critical to flood mitigation.
