The Okada Riders Association has expressed strong opposition to a new law restricting individuals under the age of 25 from operating commercial motorcycles in Ghana.
In a fiery interview on GHOne TV, the association's Public Relations Officer, Solomon Akpanaba, issued a sharp warning to the government, calling for the immediate reversal of the policy or risk facing legal and political backlash. "We knew that these things would happen once the 13-member committee did not involve us.
They seemed to have lost their logical reasoning in bringing out this ally," Akpanaba stated, accusing the government of sidelining key stakeholders while drafting the legislation.
The law, which seeks to regulate commercial motorcycle operations, has been met with frustration by riders, many of whom see the age restriction as unfair and illogical.
