Lawyer and Democracy and Development Fellow in Public Law and Justice at CDD-Ghana, Professor Stephen Kwaku Asare, has criticized the prosecution of Assin North MP, James Gyakye Quayson, following his acquittal describing it as one of the "most petty, vindictive, and politically motivated" cases in Ghana's Fourth Republic.

Kwaku Asare's comment contained in a Facebook post echoes sentiments that have been voiced by several critics of the legal proceedings.

Quayson, who had been at the center of a legal battle over allegations of dual citizenship, was acquitted after a protracted legal process that raised questions about the political motivations behind the case.
