Bryan Acheampong, Minister for Food and Agriculture, has mounted a strong defence of the Ghana Meteorological Agency regarding the drought in Northern Ghana. His comments come amid concerns that the agency failed to promptly advise affected farmers ahead of the drought. Farmers in these areas have suffered significant losses, as their crops and overall farm output have been severely impacted by the current dry spell. During an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Channel One TV, Bryan Acheampong stated that the agency did offer advice to the farmers, suggesting that many of them ignored it. "Meteo did indeed put up the advice, they did, and we tried to push that advice also to the field. But I think it was underestimated because Meteo puts up this advice quite often.
