Kenneth Ashigbey, Convener of the Ghana Coalition Against Galamsey, has called for the full repeal of Legislative Instrument (LI) 2462, arguing that it could help save up to 60% of Ghana's forests.

He expressed disappointment over the government's decision to pursue a limited amendment instead of honoring its promise to repeal the law entirely.

Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Monday, April 7, Ashigbey highlighted the president's ability to act swiftly on campaign promises, citing the repeal of the e-levy law within 82 days of taking office. "This is a president who gave a promise to repeal the e-levy law and not in 100 days, in 82 days he was able to convert that manifesto promise into the budget statement, convert it into a bill and sign and gazette it in record time," he noted.
