The Office of the President has officially halted the granting of contract appointments to retired public service personnel, effective immediately.
In a letter dated April 2, 2025, and signed by Dr.
Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, the directive was announced, placing a hold on all post-retirement contract appointments. "The grant of post-retirement contract appointments to retired public service staff has been suspended with immediate effect," the statement read.
Following this new policy, the Office of the President reinforced that "all requests for such appointments will no longer be considered." Public sector institutions have been instructed to adhere strictly to the directive. "Kindly take note of this directive and ensure strict compliance," the statement concluded.
