Former Director of the Ghana School of Law, Kwaku Ansa-Asare, has expressed concern over the potential influence of executive power on the processes surrounding the possible removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, suggesting that the Council of State may ultimately act in alignment with the President's preferences.

His remarks come after the Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo formally submitted her reply to the removal petitions ahead of President Mahama's April 7 deadline.

Sources say Justice Gertrude Torkornoo delivered her written defense to both the President and Council of State within the 10-day response period granted after the petitions were filed.

With this procedural step now completed, the Council of State is poised to evaluate whether the allegations warrant further action.
